Live Weather at Long Family Orchard
Most weather apps read from a sensor miles away. Ours reads from the orchard itself: Michigan State University operates a research weather station right here on the farm, and you can check it before you drive out.
An MSU Weather Station, Right Here on the Farm
We can't change Mother Nature, but we can sure monitor what she gives us.
Michigan State's Enviroweather network keeps research stations in Michigan's growing regions, and one of them lives at Long's. It reads air and soil temperature, rainfall, wind, and leaf wetness right at the orchard, the same numbers we use to decide picking days, from spring asparagus to fall apples.
